QuickBooks Hack #4

A simple tutorial on how to use Match Option

As promised, this hack informs you all about the Use Match Option. When you first open your bank feed page, you might feel hit in the face with all the boxes and categories. I'll admit, it does seem daunting at first. But the best way to overcome that fear is to take things step-by-step and truly understand your playing field.

We start with our overall rule: Your open invoices must match the income transactions under your bank feed. And why is it that we emphasize this, you may ask? It's pretty simple, actually, if the invoices and the income transactions are not a match, it will create a pile of what may seemingly look like a load of unpaid invoices. Or, one of my personal favorite problems: accepting the transaction as a double entry and sending the received payment to undeposited funds😑. This switcheroo will leave your head tilted on its axis for quite some time. Wondering what you did wrong but not being able to pin exactly what it is. But fear not, my friends😊. Below are the steps you can take to avoid this abysmal mistake:

  1. Enter your QuickBooks Online App

  2. Select Banking

  3. Choose a Bank

  • Keep in mind that there is a List Icon that will help you get a better view of all your connected accounts

  1. Select New Transactions

  • This will bring up a list of different suggested matches

  • If the match is right, simply swipe right to accept. You can also see the transaction details by selecting the transaction

  • If there are multiple transactions that appear, select the correct ones, then select Accept

  • If there are no matches, search to find another possible match, when found, choose the correct match and hit Accept

And Voila!! Now, you can track similar transactions and make a note of them for future referencing and maintain an organized bank feed. Now that you have learned these steps go back and make sure you apply this to your books. Trust me; you won't regret just taking a quick peek to see if everything makes PERFECT sense😉. Phew. I'm glad we got that out of the way. That's another amazing Quickbooks Hack down! Make sure to like, comment below, and follow me on Instagram to stay up to date on more amazing QuickBooks feeds. Until we meet again😇.
